When preparing your home to be photographed, it is important to keep in mind how you want your property to be perceived, for example – an upmarket property or a warm, inviting family home etc. This will help our Professional Photographer decide on a creative direction.

 

Below is a simple checklist to assist you in getting your home ready for your professional photography shoot!

1. Outside and Around The Home

Move vehicles from the driveway

Clean up any rubbish (Paper, bags and other loose items)

Put away garbage bins

Mow overgrown lawn and remove obvious weeds

Trim back any overgrown shrubs and trees

Sweep up leaves and grass cuttings

Put away children's toys, bikes, etc

Make sure all outside lights are working

Remove leaves and creepy crawlies from your pool

 

2. Preparing Your Kitchen

Clear all the benches of any clutter

Remove all appliances such as toasters and kettles

Remove all fridge magnets and photos from the fridge

Hide all electrical cords

Empty all rubbish bins

Wipe down all bench tops

Clean all cook tops and ovens

3. Living Rooms and Rumpus Rooms

Hide all TV remotes

Remove magazines and newspapers

Remove any gym equipment

Pack away any loose cables or speaker wires

Clear any loose clutter from the room and shelves

4. Dining Rooms and Meal Areas

Set tables with your best cutlery

Add a centre piece such as candles or flowers

Ensure the area is free from all clutter

Hide any electrical cords

 

5. Preparing Bedrooms

Remove all clothes and clutter from the floor

Make all beds, Tuck in all sheets and blankets

Remove items from bedside tables (clock radios, books, personal items)

Ensure the globes are working in bed side lamps

6. Bathrooms and Ensuite

Remove any toothbrushes and shavers from sink tops

Remove bottles or soaps from the showers or baths

Fold towels neatly and hang them over the towel rails

Clean all mirrors and wipe down benches

7. General cleaning

Clean the windows inside and out

Vacuum the carpets and mop any tiled areas

Dust the blinds

 

Other Notes

On the day of the shoot make sure you open all curtains, turn on all your lights including lamps and the range hood light, close all toilet lids, lock all pets in the garage and turn off all televisions.
