Monaco Penthouse sells for a whopping £199 million
Most of us can only dream of living in a million dollar penthouse with views, let alone a 17,500 sqm ft Monaco penthouse located on the French Riviera.
British property developer brothers Christian and Nick Candy sold the Monaco penthouse La Belle Epoque for a whopping £199 million (over $AU325 million). The property was bought on lease for 97 years by an anonymous Middle Eastern investor, who is thought to be an Arab Sheikh.
The brothers originally purchased the home in the early 2000’s after the previous owner, a secretive billionaire banker aged 67, died in the home. He had been locked in a security room of the penthouse after a fire was allegedly started by a servant.
In the last year alone, the brothers spent around £26 million on the two-floor penthouse to incorporate some extravagant features, including:
- A double height library,
- Roof terraces with 15-foot trees,
- An infinity pool,
- Leisure room complete with billiard tables and arcade video games,
- Jacuzzi and spa,
- A media room with executive chairs that can double as beds,
- Old master paintings,
- Walk-in-robes and dressing rooms,
- Several cinema screens that come out of the walls at the touch of a button, and
- A panic room, reinforced glass and surveillance cameras.
