New Yorks 'Skinniest House' Sold

New Yorks ‘Skinniest House’ Sold

The Greenwich Village townhouse, measuring just 2.9 metres wide and 12.8  metres deep, has sold for $US2.1 million ($A2.27 million).

Originally listed in August, 2009, for $US2.75 million ($A2.92 million), the asking price was reportedly slashed to $US2.49 million ($A2.76 million) before the buyer managed to talk the price down a further 13 per cent.

The seller reportedly paid $US1.6 million ($A1.7 million) for the townhouse after a bidding war in 2000.

The home comprises three levels and a basement, with an open floor plan and extended balconies overlooking the garden to make up for the lack of width.

Built in 1873, the 1,500 sq ft Dutch-style townhouse has had its fair share of celebrity residents too, with actors Cary Grant and John Barrymore, cartoonist William Steig and Pulitzer prize winning poet, Edna St Vincent Millay, all calling the property home over the years.
