Location

Robina is located in the heart of the Gold Coast, Queensland, just west of Broadbeach and 16 kilometres from Surfers Paradise.

History

Until sold off in 1980, the land that is now known as the suburb of Robina was used for grazing. Since its purchase by Singaporean real estate developer Robin Loh, Robina has experience rapid growth. It is considered one of Australia’s most successful planned communities and it is currently the third largest suburb on the Gold Coast.

Facilities

Robina offers many facilities and attractions for its community. There is a public hospital located in the suburb as well as many places of worship for a variety of faiths. All levels of education are offered in Robina, including kindergartens, a public junior school, the second largest public high school in Queensland, two private schools, and Australia’s only private university - Bond University.

There is also the recently expanded and renovated Robina Town Centre which attracts people from all over. This Centre is one of the most modern and best designed shopping precincts in Australia, with award-winning restaurants along the feature lake within the Centre. Robina Town Centre also offers department stores, supermarkets, specialty stores, entertainment and cinemas.

There are countless parks in Robina, with many having sporting courts and fields, as well as walkways and jogging tracks. On top of the public parks and sporting facilities available, there are a number of privately operated facilities including University pools, tennis courts, gyms as well as golf courses, and health clubs. Robina Stadium is also located in the suburb as the name suggests which is home to the NRL team – Gold Coast Titans.

Population

According to the 2006 Census, the population of Robina was 19,182. Of the total population, 47.4 per cent were males and 52.6 per cent were females with the median age being 38 years old.
