White boss says 2009 most unsettled
Head of the Ray White real estate group, Brian White, this week described 2009 as the most unsettled year in property he had remembered.
Commenting in a release via his group's own website, White called 2009: "the most topsy-turvy I've ever experienced".
"It gives an indication of how quickly things can change," White said.
"But one of the things we always rely on is that it's a needs market. The buying and selling of your own home and where you live, etcetera, is one of the fundamentals. No matter what the market, there is still an enormous amount of activity that takes place."
White said he expected 2010 to be "quite a good year".
"The interest rate increases have been not unexpected. The market has been strong in recent months... But I would prefer to have the markets even out rather than have an intense boom or a shocking hangover."
White is the fourth generation of his family to be involved in the real estate business, which was founded in 1902.
